    27/12/2011

If you’ve just removed the wrapping paper from a new Nintendo 3DS system and want to find out more about what the groundbreaking handheld has in its locker, our helpful guide is the perfect place to start. Read on and check out the links to discover more about the world of Nintendo 3DS!

Did you know that you can register your Nintendo 3DS system, as well as many Nintendo 3DS games, to earn Stars in Club Nintendo? Stars can be exchanged for exclusive Nintendo goodies in the Stars Catalogue, but at the moment you can also take advantage of a special offer and claim a classic game. Thanks to our Nintendo 3DS Games Registration Reward, simply register two selected Nintendo 3DS titles by January 31st, 2012 and receive a free download of 3D Classics Kid Icarus!

Speaking of software, make sure you’re up to date with the latest games making their way to Nintendo 3DS by checking out our Nintendo 3DS Games section. The section includes loads of trailers for top titles and is your instant access point to great games like Mario Kart 7, SUPER MARIO 3D LAND, nintendogs + cats, Pokémon Rumble and many more top titles lined up for 2012! Likewise, the Nintendo Characters Hub quickly connects you to Nintendo 3DS games starring some of Nintendo’s most iconic heroes.

3D Classics Kid Icarus isn’t the only game or application you can bag for free on Nintendo 3DS. You can also help yourself to The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition until February 20th 2012 by connecting to Nintendo eShop, not to mention Pokémon-based application Pokédex 3D and messaging service Nintendo Letter Box.* As well as free titles, your Nintendo 3DS system also supports a number of free applications, bursting with content! Nintendo Video hosts a whole range of 3D video content, from orchestral Zelda recordings to episodic animations, while the Eurosport application delivers sporting bloopers on a weekly basis. Both applications can be downloaded for free from Nintendo eShop, and receive new content automatically via SpotPass, so you won’t have to lift a finger to find something new to watch.

Downloading such software – as well as accessing lots of other Nintendo 3DS content – means you’ll need to connect your Nintendo 3DS to the Internet. If you need help getting online, or with any other aspect of your system (from parental controls to downloading replacement game manuals), check out our comprehensive support section.

It’s also worth remembering that Nintendo 3DS is constantly evolving to offer new features and content. To make sure your system is up to date, follow the prompts when you set up your system for the first time. You can always perform the most recent system update later though and our simple system update tutorial video here will show you how to do this in just a few easy steps. The most recent update provided a number of great new features, including a 3D Video recorder, which allows you to capture up to 10 minutes of footage in 3D as well as make your very own stop-motion videos!

We hope you will enjoy your Nintendo 3DS system this holiday season – and beyond, as there’s plenty more gaming fun to be had in 2012!
