Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows™ - Part 1: The videogame

System: Wii Release date: 19/11/2010

Become Harry Potter and put every lesson learned at Hogwarts to work as he faces a deadly new challenge on Wii.

Based on the film of the same name, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 is an adventure game that sees you assuming the role of the young wizard as he embarks on his most dangerous quest yet. Away from the relative safety of Hogwarts school, Harry must evade the grip of Voldemort and his Dark Forces whilst working to locate and annihilate his soul-destroying Horcruxes.

With dazzling environments to explore, Death Eaters to vanquish and shadows closing in on every side, Harry will have to show the ultimate mastery of magic just to survive. Thankfully, there are all manner of spells at his disposal when it comes to the business of casting the bad guys aside. Cause dramatic explosions with Confringo, stun foes with Stupefy or shield yourself from danger with Protego. As you advance through the adventure and overcome obstacles, you’ll gain experience points that unlock new spells and strengthen those already in your arsenal.

There’s more to being magic than casting spells though, and Harry’s world is also littered with different kinds of potions that can be put to excellent use. For starters, there are Throwing Potions. A timely toss of some Peruvian Instant Darkness Powder, for example, and you can rob enemies of the light they need to attack effectively. Drinking Potions, on the other hand, are used to bolster Harry’s health, improve the effectiveness of his attacks, protect him from certain elements and more. Keep a careful eye out for potions wherever your travels lead you – collecting them could be a matter of life and death.

Perhaps the most precious item in Harry’s inventory, however, is his trusty invisibility cloak. For a wizard on the run, going unseen is every bit as important as all-out attack. Just keep in mind that not being seen doesn’t mean you won’t be heard. As you walk around and get closer to enemies, the on-screen Stealth Meter will slowly turn red. When it looks like Harry’s about to be detected, it’s time to take cover and wait until the meter returns to a less threatening state.

To keep you coming back for more once your main quest is complete, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 includes a challenge mode in which you take on a selection of adrenaline-pumping tasks in a bid to bag the highest score possible. On top of that, a range of collectibles scattered around the game world can be gathered to unlock fan friendly content such as Fred and George’s Potterwatch broadcasts, voiced by Weasley twin actors James and Oliver Phelps.

Take charge of Harry Potter as he enters a world where there is no more training, no more lessons and no choice but to set himself on a collision course with the greatest evil of all.

  • Step into the shoes of Harry Potter as he embarks on his most dangerous quest yet.
  • Cast a huge range of spells as you tackle iconic Harry Potter enemies. Unlock new spells as you advance and increase their strength by gaining experience points.
  • Collect powerful potions and use them to attack, confound and repel your enemies.
