Game Boy micro Hookup Instructions

Important Note:
We highly recommend you review the following precautions before you set up and operate your Nintendo system:

Important Game Pak Guidelines (please read before inserting Game Paks):

  • The Game Boy micro is only compatible with Game Boy Advance Game Paks. Games for the original Game Boy, Game Boy pocket, and Game Boy Color are not compatible with the Game boy micro.
  • Always check the Game Pak edge connector for foreign material before inserting it into the Game Pak slot.
  • Be sure to orient the Game Pak correctly before inserting it into the Game Pak Slot.
  • Do not turn the power off or remove the Game Pak while saving game data, or the save data may be lost.

Using the Game Boy micro:

  1. If this is the first time you are using your Game Boy micro, make sure the internal battery is fully charged before using. Please click here for help charging the battery.

  3. Firmly insert a Game Pak into the Game Pak Slot on the underside of the Game Boy micro, so that the label side of the Game Pak is facing away from the front of the unit. Be sure the Game Pak is fully inserted. You will know it is fully inserted when you hear it click in place.

  5. Turn on the power by pushing the Power Switch towards the screen. (Note: If the screen appears too dark or too bright, you can adjust the brightness by holding down the L Button while pressing the Volume/Brightness Adjustment Switch on the right side of the Game Boy micro up or down.)

  6. The screen will display the Game Boy logo, and then change to the display for the game that you are playing. Be sure to read the Game Pak instruction booklet for the game you are playing. To get the best image on your Game Boy micro:

    • For best color under bright light conditions, dim the brightness (click here for more information).
    • For best color under low light conditions, turn the brightness up (click here for more information). This will reduce battery life.

  7. To remove the Game Pak after playing, first turn the power OFF by sliding the Power Switch away from the screen, then slide the Game Pak out of the Game Pak Slot.

  8. To avoid dirt or dust from getting into the Game Boy micro, always leave a Game Pak inserted (with the power off) when not in use.
