Need advice on finding a compatible wireless router?

Good news! Most wireless routers are compatible with the Wii console and Nintendo DS systems.

Before purchasing a wireless router, make sure of the following:

• 802.11b
  Most routers are backwards compatible with the 802.11b standard. Routers that broadcast exclusively on 802.11g or 802.11n may not be compatible with the Nintendo DS nor the Wii.
• Security
  If you wish to use wireless security on your router, make sure it has a type that is compatible with the system you wish to use. Select the system below for compatibility information.
  Wii U      Wii      Nintendo 3DS      Nintendo DS & Nintendo DS Lite      Nintendo DSi & Nintendo DSi XL

  Wii U - compatible with WEP, WPA, and WPA2.
  Wii - compatible with WEP and WPA.
  Nintendo 3DS - compatible with WEP and WPA. Please note: Nintendo DS online multiplayer games can only be played with WEP security (more info). Games made for the Nintendo 3DS can be played over either type of security.
  Nintendo DS and Nintendo DS Lite - compatible only with WEP.
  Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL - compatible with WPA and WEP. Please note: online multiplayer games can only be played with WEP security (more info).
