Connecting the Wii Speak microphone to the Wii console
- Turn the power off on the Wii console before installing or removing the Wii Speak accessory (the Power LED will appear either red or orange when the power is turned off).
- Check the USB connectors on the back of the Wii console for any dust or other foreign material. If any dust or foreign material is present, clean it with a soft, dry cloth.
- Insert the USB plug from the Wii Speak accessory straight into one of the USB connectors on the back of the Wii console.
- If you are using more than two USB devices at the same time, you must use a USB hub that has its own power supply that plugs into a standard AC wall outlet. Do not use a USB hub that is powered by one of the devices connected to it. For a list of known compatible USB hubs, click here.

Placing the Wii Speak microphone
The Wii Speak microphone works best when placed on top of the television. The installation will vary depending on whether your Sensor Bar is located on top of or below your television.
- Remove the liners from the anti-slip pads on the bottom of the microphone. Be careful not to remove the anti-slip pads.
- Line up the rib on the the bottom of the microphone with the groove in the top of the Sensor Bar, and place the microphone.
- The Sensor Bar and Wii Speak microphone should be centered on the top of and aligned with the front of the television.
- Make sure the Wii Speak microphone is visible from the front of the television and that nothing is blocking the Wii Speak microphone.
- If the microphone doesn't seem secure enough, use the additional anti-slip pads on the bottom of the Wii Speak microphone.
- Do not place the Wii Speak microphone where it will block vents in the television.
- If the top of your television is too rounded or narrow to place the Wii Speak microphone, place it underneath the television and as far away from any audio speakers as possible.
- If you have a center channel speaker on top of the TV, we recommend turning the speaker off when using the Wii Speak microphone. If the speaker is on, the microphone will need to be as far away from the speaker as possible.
The Wii Sensor Bar is placed above the TV:
Note: For best performance, the Wii Speak microphone should be placed so it sticks out slightly from the front of the television, and it should be aligned with the front surface of the television.
