Dr Eggman has challenged Sonic and his friends to race in the EX World Grand Prix - an 'air boarding' contest where the stakes are high (an ultra-rare Chaos Emerald) and the risks are even higher. Not only must you race to the finish but also perform tricks and stunts as you go, and battle opponents in mid-air over treacherous terrain. In Sonic Riders, 'Air' is like fuel - the more you get, the faster you travel. And speed is the key to success. Increase your air supply by performing moves based on your character's strengths: 'Speed' characters can grind to earn air, 'Flight' characters can glide for long distances, and 'Power' characters can bash obstacles (even cars!) out of their way. Naturally, there's an intense four-player race mode too; in which you can play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow or a shady group of newcomers called the Band of Thieves - each with their own unique air boards and techniques.
