Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows™ - Part 1

System: Nintendo DS Release date: 19/11/2010

Prepare to experience the spellbinding magic of Harry Potter wherever you are as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 comes to Nintendo DS.

Based on the film of the same name, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 is an adventure game that sees you assuming the role of the young wizard as he faces his most dangerous challenge yet. Away from the relative safety of Hogwarts school, Harry, Ron and Hermione must evade the grip of Voldemort and his Dark Forces whilst working together to locate and annihilate his soul-destroying Horcruxes.

With such a daunting task ahead of them, it’s a good job Harry and friends are well versed in matters of magic themselves! Players guide Harry on the Touch Screen as he explores diverse environments – each of which introduce new enemies, puzzles to solve and quests to complete. Along the way you’ll utilise the unique skills of Ron and Hermione, taking advantage of their Arresto Momento and Deluminator spells to slow down enemies or let Harry advance under the cover of darkness. Just keep an eye on the Ability Bar, as spells cast by any of the trio will eat away at this all-important magic meter. To increase the Ability Bar and ensure the magic lasts longer, search for spell book pages scattered around the world. Find enough spell book pages and you’ll also see the strength of certain spells increasing.

On top of the spells Ron and Hermione can cast, Harry has more than a few up his sleeve as well. Drawing you into the game, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 calls on you to cast spells by making the correct markings on the Touch Screen. Wingardium Leviosa, for example, can be cast by simply tapping a target with your stylus then dragging it to another part of the screen to throw it there. With many such spells to master, you’ll be wielding your wand with devastating effects wherever the adventure leads you. Spells aren’t the only thing that makes Harry magic though. His invisibility cloak is also among his equipment, allowing him to sneak past enemies as long as he creeps with care.

Also key to the world of Harry Potter is the use of potions. In the game you might find ready-made concoctions to restore Harry’s health and destroy certain obstacles. On the other hand, you could simply pick up the ingredients and end up doing the brewing yourself. If you do have to get in the mix, you’ll brew potions by shaking, swirling, slicing and stirring ingredients on the Touch Screen. It might be a little more labour-intensive than finding what you need lying around, but being a boy wizard isn’t all wand waving and conquering evil, you know!

Away from the perils of the main mission in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, the game also includes a multiplayer mode that pitches you into battle with a friend. Playable via Multi-Card or Single Card Play, multiplayer mode sees you taking control of either Harry or a group of three Dementors tasked with hunting him down. Can Harry collect all the Magic Points before the clock ticks away or the Dementors catch up with him? Only you and your fellow player can decide who comes out on top in this battle between good and evil!

Don the glasses, master the spells and take up the battle against Voldemort as the world of Harry Potter comes to Nintendo DS in the shape of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1.

  • Become Harry Potter and control the boy wizard using intuitive Touch Screen controls.
  • Use the combined powers of Harry, Ron and Hermione in the battle against Voldemort and his Dark Forces – casting spells on the Touch Screen and exploring a world full of iconic Harry Potter characters.
  • Challenge a friend in multiplayer mode, taking charge of Harry or a trio of Dementors tasked with tracking him down before he collects all available Magic Points.
