Rock Revolution

System: Nintendo DS Release date: 30/04/2009

Rock Revolution asks you just one simple question - are you ready to rock? All the elements the budding rock god requires are present and correct. Whether you're a natural lead vocalist who can't wait to grab the mic and let rip, a wannabe guitar legend looking to show off their lightning-fast fretwork or an aspiring drummer or bassist who prefers to run a tighter-than-tight rhythm section, the band of your rock dreams is waiting for you. So grab your DS, unleash your inner rock beast and aim for the top of the charts!

After selecting your role in the band as either vocalist, guitarist, bassist or drummer, you'll use the DS Touch Screen and stylus or the microphone to sing, strum or pound your way through a set of great rock songs, ranging from solid-gold classics to sizzling new tracks. Each instrument has a unique control method for you to master. Guitarists will use the stylus and the Touch Screen to strum the notes while also having plenty of scope to show off with spectacular windmills, tapping and killer sustained notes. Bassists will give the song its groove, picking out intricate patterns on four strings, while the drummer lays down the beat by tapping the on-screen drum kit to deliver funky rhythms and drum fills. Fronting the band, vocalists will sing into the DS microphone and aim to hit the indicated notes at the correct pitch as the lyrics scroll along the bottom of the screen in true karaoke style.

Playing the right notes and keeping perfect rhythm will have the crowd baying for more, boosting your score and bringing in money that you can spend on upgrading your stage set-up with bigger and better props and new gear. Nail a series of tricky notes to get a combo and build up your all-important Rock Meter, amping up your score -but hit a bum note and your audience won't be happy. Too much sloppy playing and you could face the worst imaginable fate for a rock star - getting booed off stage by former fans screaming for their money back.

Rock Revolution offers tonnes of fun for the solo rocker while also boasting a number of multiplayer options. You can challenge a friend to a battle for headbanging supremacy using your favourite instrument, or take them on in an extreme challenge that demands mastery of all aspects of the rock armoury. Or if you prefer to collaborate rather than compete, you'll be able to team up with your friends to form a band and rock out together. You won't need to hire a tour bus to take a full band out on the road. All you'll need are up to three of your friends with a copy of the game each to live the rock'n'roll dream. You'll be able to select an instrument and song before hitting the stage and taking the rock world by storm. Just try not to let creative differences come between you...

With Rock Revolution, the days of wailing into your hairbrush in the bathroom mirror or strumming your tennis racket are well and truly over. The crowd are waiting - now go and rock their world!
