What’s Wave 5 all about?

Wave 5 includes three additional characters and eight new courses. And one of those courses (Squeaky Clean Sprint) is brand-new to the entire Mario Kart franchise!

What is the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass DLC?

This paid DLC is your ticket to adding 48 more courses to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, doubling the course number when all the content is out. These courses are being released in six waves until the end of 2023 and each wave has eight courses. You can also race online** with them too.

Today sees the release of Wave 5, which means it’s the penultimate wave! (That means it’s the second to last one.)

What’s this about a toilet?

Ah, it’s not just a toilet—it’s a giant toilet.

In the Squeaky Clean Sprint course, you’ll get a pint-sized perspective on a Mario themed bathroom—including flying over a giant toilet and dropping down the drain of a giant bathtub. Keep an eye out for all the little details in the background of this course!

How do I get the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass?

There are two ways to get access.

1) Folks who have an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership** already have access to these waves of content as they are released—there is no additional cost on top of the membership price.

Members also get access to a selection of Nintendo 64™, SEGA Genesis™, and Game Boy™ Advance games, access to the Animal Crossing™: New Horizons - Happy Home Paradise DLC* and Splatoon™ 2: Octo Expansion*, and all the benefits of a Nintendo Switch Online membership (online play, access to a library of classic Super NES™, NES™, and Game Boy games, access to the Save Data Cloud, exclusive games, and more).
