Linking to a Nintendo Account

In order to use all the features offered on Nintendo Switch, a Nintendo Account must be linked with a user account on your console.

*Only one Nintendo Account can be linked to each user.

*Once linked, you cannot change your user account to link to a different Nintendo Account. Please make sure you don't mistakenly link to the wrong account.

Linking a Nintendo Account with a user account on Nintendo Switch makes more features accessible, for example:

Friend-related features
Posting screenshots/videos on social media networks

*Certain games require a linked Nintendo Account to play.

Linking procedure

Connect your console to the Internet.

From the HOME Menu, select your user icon to access your user page.

Select "Profile" → "Link Nintendo Account", and follow the on-screen instructions.

Checking the linked account

You can check the email address (login ID) and family of the Nintendo Account that's linked with a particular user.

Select "User Settings" → "Check Account Information".

Select the information you'd like to check.

*You may need your Nintendo Account password.

*You can't make changes to your Nintendo Account via the console. You will need to log in to the website and make any necessary changes from there.
