What is your favorite chocolate? Get ready for a sweet Splatfest in Splatoon 3!

Hello again, fellow researchers! The Squid Research Lab is dedicated to keeping you up to date with the latest in the Splatoon™ 3 game. We’ve heard a choco-lot of rumors around the Splatlands lately, so we simply had to investigate.

We’re now delighted to say that another Splatfest* is headed straight for us! Splatfests are special in-game events in Splatoon 3. They’re a time to experience a festive atmosphere while you give your opinion on themes that spark great debate and then fight for your side.

Now, back to our findings. For this Splatfest, it turns out there’s a profound question to be asked: What is your favorite chocolate? Is it the ever-so-rich dark chocolate? Maybe you’re more of a milk chocolate kind of cephalopod? Or could you be a white-chocolate-lovin’ rebel?

This next Splatfest will be: Friday, Feb. 10 at 4 p.m. PT to Sunday, Feb. 12 at 4 p.m. PT.

How do I choose a side?

You can choose a side right now since we’re in the Sneak Peek period! After you start the game, go to the little stall in Splatsville to choose your destiny. You’ll be on this side for the entire event, so make sure it’s the flavor you want.

After choosing, you are then given an in-game t-shirt that’s worn during the event. This shirt come with a special ability: Ability Doubler (which, you guessed it, doubles the effect of other gear abilities attached to this gear).

Oh, one more thing for the Sneak Peek and Splatfest timeframes: Every time you gain a level in your Catalog, you are also given something called a Conch Shell. These guys can be redeemed at the machine in the Lobby for some fun little goodies. The number of conch shells collected by each team also impacts the final results, so redeem early and redeem often!

What else changes during a Splatfest?

A bunch of stuff does! In addition to how Splatsville looks and sounds, these Splatfest Battle types will replace the normal ones: Open, Pro, and (halfway through the event) Tricolor. In “Open,” you can enter a match with a group of friends. Pick “Pro” if you’re more of a solo player—everyone on the teams will be randomized.

What do you get for winning a Splatfest?

Everyone who participates will get Super Sea Snails after the Splatfest, with the winning side getting more. Talk to Murch who hangs outside the Lobby if you’re not sure what to do with those (the short version is that Super Sea Snails can be used as a shortcut to upgrade your gear and get abilities that match your needs better).

Secret Pro Tip

This is confidential, but the people must know! If you’re in the market for ability chunks, talk to Murch during the Sneak Peek and the Splatfest. Scrubbing equipment off your Splatfest Tee is much cheaper than normal, so you can scrub-a-dub way more than usual and get way more ability chunks. Let the good chunks roll!

Now, go out there and get a taste of chocolaty chaos, researchers! Good luck!
