Nintendo is #1 in Metacritic's Annual Game Publisher Rankings
Nintendo fans know that 2014 was a great year for game releases—and it looks like the critics agree. Metacritic has released the results of their 5th Annual Game Publisher Rankings, which ranks publishers based on the critical reviews of their 2014 releases. Nintendo earned the top spot with the best-reviewed titles of the year, moving up from #4 in 2013.
According to Metacritic, the top overall Nintendo game was Super Smash Bros.™ for Wii U, while Bravely Default for the Nintendo 3DS system was the most highly-regarded “new original title.” Critics also loved Bayonetta 2 and Mario Kart™ 8 for Wii U.
Nintendo not only took the prize for quality, but also quantity, with a whopping 34 scored releases—more than any other publisher.
