[Switch] How many controllers can I pair with my console at the same time?

Regardless of controller type (Joy-Con, Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, etc.), you can pair up to eight controllers with your Nintendo Switch console simultaneously.

* The number of players who can actually play at any one time depends on the title and game mode being used.

Examples of eight paired controllers

TV Mode: Eight players

Joy-Con (horizontal grip) x 6 players
Nintendo Switch Pro Controller x 2 players

* The same configuration is possible using a wired connection for the Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers (⑦ and ⑧).

TV Mode: Seven players

Joy-Con grip x 1 player
Gamecube Controller x 2 players
Joy-Con (horizontal grip) x 2 players
Nintendo Switch Pro Controller x 2 players

* When a single player mounts a Joy-Con pair in a Joy-Con grip, as with ① and ② above, the Joy-Con (L) and (R) each count as one controller.

Tabletop Mode: Six players
