Q&A

Q
[Switch] What is the lifespan of the batteries inside the console and controllers?
A

The amount of time a full charge lasts characteristically reduces over time as the internal battery undergoes charge/discharge cycles.

Approximate lifespans for each product are given below.

Nintendo Switch console

After around 800 charges, the battery capacity will be approximately 80% compared to that of a newly purchased console.

Nintendo Switch Lite console

After around 800 charges, the battery capacity will be approximately 80% compared to that of a newly purchased console.

Joy-Con

After around 500 charges, the battery capacity will be approximately 80% compared to that of a newly purchased controller.

Nintendo Switch Pro Controller

After around 500 charges, the battery capacity will be approximately 70% compared to that of a newly purchased controller.

* Please charge devices with internal batteries at least once every six months. If not charged for an extended period of time, the battery may lose its ability to retain charge.
* If the usage time after a full charge reduces dramatically, or if your battery can no longer retain charge at all, it means the battery is reaching the end of its life. Please contact your local customer service centre.
