Update data for the Nintendo Switch system games Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl was released.

Please download this update data, as it’s designed to make gameplay more pleasant for you.

Approximately 3GB of memory must be available on your Nintendo Switch system’s memory or on your micro SD card to download the update data. Please see Nintendo support page for details about checking memory and managing data.

Ver. 1.3.0 (Releasing March 16, 2022)

Added an event related to Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

If a user on a Nintendo Switch system has save data from Pokémon Legends: Arceus that meets set requirements, that player can take part in a special event to meet the Mythical Pokémon Arceus when playing the Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Pokémon Shining Pearl games.

Added a network-trading feature at GWS.

It is now possible to trade Pokémon online at the GWS in Jubilife City.

Note: A Nintendo Switch Online membership (paid service) is required to trade Pokémon online.

Union Room functions have been expanded.

The maximum number of players you can play with via local or internet communication in Union Rooms has been increased to eight. Also, by selecting Greeting or Capsule Decorations, you can show each other your Trainer Cards or Capsule Decorations.

Additional Colosseum battle feature has been added.

Enter the Colosseum on the 2nd floor of a Pokémon Center to battle with other players using custom rulesets.

In the Colosseum, you can set rules, such as the number of Pokémon to send into battle as well as their levels, and play Single Battles, Double Battles, or Multi Battles via local or internet communication.

Pokémon Trading and Battles

Some Pokémon acquired via unintended methods or illicit modification now cannot be used in Link Trades or Link Battles.

Communication function added for the Grand Underground, Super Contest Shows, Union Room, and Mystery Gift

You’ll be able to enjoy local communication function of game features like the Grand Underground, Super Contest Shows, and the Union Room. You’ll also be able to receive gifts via Mystery Gift.

Post–Hall of Fame elements added

Some game elements you’ll be able to enjoy after entering the Hall of Fame, such as Ramanas Park, will be implemented.

Note: If you have game data that reflects that you have already entered the Hall of Fame, you can play these elements immediately after updating the software.

Some in-game movies and animation added

Certain animated scenes and movies, including the title demo that plays when the software is booted up and the ending movie, will be implemented.

Note: A movie of the title demo has been added that plays when the software is booted up. You can see it by rebooting the game with existing save data.

Note: Animation of the ending movie has been added. Even if you have already reflected entering the Hall of Fame on your save data, you can see the ending by entering the Hall of Fame again.

Some issues have also been fixed for more pleasant gameplay.


Note: Local communication is not compatible with version 1.0.0. Please make sure you have the same update version as the people you’d like to play with.
