Q&A

Q
[Switch] My wirelessly connected controller is not working.
A
* When using a third-party controller, rather than one made by Nintendo, please direct your inquiries to the manufacturer.

If you are unable to use a wirelessly connected Joy-Con or Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, try the following steps.

Check to see if pairing your controller resolves the issue.

  • It is possible that your controller is not paired with your console, or that it has become disconnected. Please check to see if pairing your controller resolves the issue. (Pairing procedure here)

  • If you're having trouble pairing your controller, disconnect the controller from the console before attempting to reconnect it. (Unpairing procedure here)

Check to see if charging your controller resolves the issue.

Charging your controller may resolve the issue. (Charging procedure here)

Check to see if pressing the SYNC Button on your controller resolves the issue.

Try pressing the SYNC Button on each of your controllers several times and check if this resolves the issue.

* Pressing the SYNC Button will interrupt the controller’s wireless communication with the console. Reconnect the controller by pressing one of the directional or A/B/X/Y Buttons.

Check to see if restarting your console resolves the issue.

For details on how to restart the console, see here.

Check to see if changing the wireless environment of your console and controller resolves the issue.

  • If there are appliances nearby (such as microwaves or cordless phones), they may be interfering with the wireless signal between the console and the controller. Try turning any such appliances off temporarily to see if this resolves the issue.

  • If your console is located on metal shelving or within a metal cabinet, please move it elsewhere to see if this resolves the issue.

  • Check to see if removing any covers from your console or controllers that are not officially licensed by Nintendo resolves the issue.

If the above methods do not resolve your issue, please contact your local customer service centre.
