November 1st is Pikmin Day
Hello, everyone. I'm Shigeru Miyamoto.
As you just saw, starting this year… we're going to start calling November 1st Pikmin Day.
In the first Pikmin game, released on Nintendo GameCube in 2001… the Red, Blue and Yellow Pikmin made their debut.
If you imagine those three Pikmin as the number one, that makes November 1st... Pikmin Day.
At present, nine types of Pikmin have been discovered. I'm sure there are all sorts of Pikmin around you as well.
Alright. First, for Pikmin Day, we'll share some information about Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy.
Pikmin 4 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy
Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy launches November 12th. You can now give voice commands to Oatchi using the built-in microphone on Nintendo Switch 2.
Oatchi, rush! Go to work!
A new mode is also blooming: Dandori Academy. Take on challenges to see how quickly you can collect treasure, like fruits or vegetables, within the stage.
For example, instead of sending several Pikmin to carry the treasure, you could use a single Purple Pikmin.
If you plan your path in advance, you may even discover a shortcut! Find the best strategy for the task at hand.
After you've practiced, test your Dandori skills!
Once your strategy takes root, collect the treasure around the stage within the time limit.
Exams are held every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. You only get one attempt, so make sure you practice ahead of time!
You'll earn medals based on how well you do... so give it your all and try your best!
A free demo of Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy launches November 2nd.
The game's opening area, Sun-Speckled Terrace, will be available... along with two stages of Dandori Academy.
You can play all four mainline Pikmin games, from the first through Pikmin 4, on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.
If you haven't played them, why not give these games a try?
Pikmin Bloom
Next up is some information about the smart device app Pikmin Bloom.
Secret Caves are coming!
Ok. Those Pikmin were battling a Bulborb... Let's take a closer look.
A new adventure is being added to Pikmin Bloom: Secret Caves.
In it, you'll collect treasure by defeating creatures within the caves.
But before you venture into these caverns, you'll need a cave map.
They might be attached to postcards, so be sure to check those.
After getting a map, send out your Pikmin. You can send out a bunch of Pikmin at once... and they'll explore the cave by themselves.
If they encounter a creature, a battle will begin! Command the Pikmin to attack.
If they run into trouble, use the whistle to call them back.
And if they take too much damage, they'll withdraw from the battle.
But don't worry! They'll recover after a while.
Win the battle...and you can get treasure!
Treasure you obtain in this adventure will be added as a new collection.
Also, you can get special in-app cave maps by taking exams in Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy.
The Secret Caves update is scheduled to be released this winter.
Special Guest: Fuka Koshiba
So far, we've shared information about Pikmin… but I'd like to mention something additional.
Going forward, I want people to know more about Pikmin, so I've enlisted the help of someone.
She's the voice you heard in the opening Pikmin Day video, so... let's introduce her.
This is Fuka Koshiba.
Hello there!
Hello!
Hello, everyone! I'm Fuka Koshiba.
Nice to meet you!
Thanks for being here.
Thank you for having me!
I'm hoping she'll help me build more excitement around Pikmin going forward.
Yes!
This all began when I saw that Ms. Koshiba on Instagram was making cute hats for fun.
I'm so happy! I actually brought one with me today.
Yes, that's it!
Yes! This is the Red Pikmin hat that I brought.
It's well made, seeing it up close.
Oh, I'm so glad to hear that!
What made you decide to make them?
Well originally, I'd heard on social media that you could get hats of the Red Pikmin, Blue Pikmin and Yellow Pikmin from those claw machines.
I'm not good at the claw machines but I really wanted the hats, so I thought, "Well, let's just knit them!".
I see. I'm also bad at the claw machines!
Really? Then we're in the same boat!
I'm very glad you brought this with you!
But I never imagined in my wildest dreams that these hats would lead me to where I'm standing today. I'm really happy.
Going forward, let's build even more excitement around Pikmin together!
Okay! I'll do my best!
To start, can I ask you to introduce the next part?
Of course!
Hello! Pikmin
Now, let's introduce a Pikmin original short movie. Please take a look at this.
That was surprising!
I'm so glad they weren't actually eaten. Phew.
Well, the short movie was made with the love our staff have for Pikmin, after all.
These short movies will be released as the "Hello! Pikmin" series on Nintendo Today! and other channels.
We'll release another new episode tomorrow, then one more in November.
From December onward, we'll release one video per month, so look for more on the way!
I'm collaborating with the staff at Nintendo Pictures to make these short movies. There's also the "Pikmin Close to you" short movie we released last year. Please check that out, too.
That video was super cute! I really love it.
That's all for the Pikmin Day Direct.
Everyone...
Thank you for watching!
