The Shadow Dragon Medeus, one hundred years after his defeat at the hands of the hero Anri, has returned to plunge the continent of Archanea into fear and despair.
Medeus rebuilds the Dolhr Empire and joins forces with Pontifex Gharnef, who shares his ambitions for world domination.
Together they set out to subjugate the entire continent. A descendant of Anri's royal house, King Cornelius of Altea, takes up Falchion and attempts to repeat his predecessor's heroics and slay Medeus.
But while Cornelius's family awaits his return, soldiers from the allied kingdom of Gra abruptly force their way into the Altea Castle grounds.
Prince Marth is torn from his easy life of training and study as his older sister, Elice, informs him that their father's army was betrayed and annihilated by their former ally.
With Cornelius's death, Marth is now the inheritor of Falchion and the only one worthy to wield it. Elice ushers him out of the castle, staying behind as a decoy to buy him time.
With a heavy heart, Marth flees to the east and seeks shelter in the island kingdom of Talys.

This game is a reimagining of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light for the Famicom. It features an enhanced story with a new prologue and several side quests.
It offers many new battles, which players can complete for rewards, as well as save points to keep them from losing progress. In addition to being able to promote units into a stronger version of the same class, players can now change them to different classes altogether.
Among its other features was the ability for players to battle each other or play cooperatively over Wi-Fi, though this service is no longer available.

Clip was recorded on the Wii U Virtual Console version.
