Available for selected games, a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is a bundle that includes the original Nintendo Switch game and its upgrade pack, which enhances the game to take advantage of the capabilities of Nintendo Switch 2.
If you already own the original Nintendo Switch game, as either a physical or digital version, you can upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition by purchasing the game's upgrade pack.
A growing library of classic games can be played by joining the paid Nintendo Switch Online service.
On Nintendo Switch 2, you can also play Nintendo GameCube software as part of the Nintendo Classics range of games.
*A Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership is required to play Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance and SEGA Mega Drive games.
In addition to Nintendo Switch 2 games, Nintendo Switch 2 can play compatible physical and digital games that have been released on Nintendo Switch. Some Nintendo Switch games may not be supported on or fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2.

By connecting your Nintendo Switch 2 to the internet, you can download free updates to improve resolutions, frame rates or add support for features such as GameShare in selected games. Contents of free updates differ depending on the game.
Voice chat with friends, share your game screen and connect via video chat as you play. With GameChat, you can play games and hang out like you're all in the same room, even if you're miles apart.
To use online services, you must create a Nintendo Account and accept the related agreement. The Nintendo Account Privacy Policy applies. Internet connection and paid Nintendo Switch Online membership required. Mobile phone number registration required to use GameChat. Children must get approval from a parent or guardian via the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app to use GameChat. Some online services may not be available in all countries.
A compatible USB-C camera, such as the Nintendo Switch 2 camera (sold separately), is required to use some game features and video chat.
You can use GameShare to share selected modes of supported games with friends and family – even if they don't own the game. Everyone can play together!
With the virtual game card feature, you can manage your digital game library, swap games between two systems, or even lend games to your Nintendo Account family group!
