Learn to make games from the minds at Nintendo
Attention all makers and creators! If you’ve ever wanted to make your own games but didn’t know where to start, the Game Builder Garage™ software might be able to help. It’s programming made fun with guided lessons created by Nintendo.
In Game Builder Garage, a cast of colorful creatures called Nodon will help teach the basics of visual programming and game design. These creatures are in charge of things like moving your character, pressing buttons, and adding sound effects. You’ll learn everything through a series of step-by-step lessons. Early on, you and the Nodon will be making a tag game, kart racer, alien blaster, and more.
Flex your creative muscles
Lessons are fun, but then it’s time to really get creative. Once you’ve completed some lessons and become familiar with Nodon, head to Free Programming and let your imagination run wild. Add Nodon to your programming screen and decide how they interact to bring your game to life. And with a simple press of a button, you can swap between the programming screen and the game screen to see your creation come to life.
Some masterpieces are too good to keep for yourself: Creations can also be shared online* or via a local wireless connection**. Enter a Game ID code to download creations or enter a creator’s Programmer ID to browse games that they uploaded. If you’re in a creative mood, you can also check out the programming behind those downloaded games to inspire your next project.
