WiiConnect24
When your Wii console is connected to the internet, and you have WiiConnect24 enabled (how to), you can enjoy unique "always on" features. You can send and receive e-mail with those you have established a connection; with this feature you can enjoy the News Channel, Weather Channel, and Everybody Votes Channel. You will also be notified when new features are made available for Wii. Some games, such as Big Brian Academy: Wii Degree, use WiiConnect24 to exchange certain types of data with other users.

Downloadable Content (Wii Shop Channel, Opera Browser, etc.)
With an online connection, your Wii console has access to a variety of downloadable content. The popular Wii Shop Channel lets you download classic games from systems past for play on your Wii through the Virtual Console. You can also download available system updates, and unique features such as the Internet Channel, which lets you browse the internet on your TV screen.

Playing Online Against Other Players
Starting with Pokemon Battle Revolution, Wii owners with an internet connection and a compatible game can battle head-to-head over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection with other Wii owners from around the world.
