Game Boy Link Cable Troubleshooting

  1. Make sure you are using only licensed accessories with your system. Unlicensed products are not fully compatible with Nintendo systems, and may not work correctly.
  2. Make sure each unit has a copy of the same Game Pak inserted.
  3. Ensure that the Game Pak in use is actually a multi-player game that is Game Link compatible. This would be noted in the instruction manual of the game.
  4. Make sure the Game Link cable or Universal Game Link cable is firmly connected to the unit and/or the four player adapter. The Game Link becomes difficult to push in just before it makes a good connection.
  5. Make sure you are using the correct Link Cable. If the cable doesn't fit, you may need to purchase a different cable.
  6. After connecting, turn all of the Game Boy units on at same time.
  7. All players should proceed through the multi-player game select process in unison, step by step.

If troubleshooting does not solve the problem, you may wish to try a different link cable (click here for information on purchasing replacement parts).
