Wii Balance Board won't sync with Wii system (power light keeps blinking)

Important! Please read the following to ensure a correct sync:

  • Synching can be completed only if a compatible game disc is running in the console.

Compatible game discs (such as Wii Fit) will display the Wii Balance Board icon on their packaging:

  • The Wii Balance Board must be synced to each compatible game individually.

  • These sync settings will be saved even after the console is turned off.

Follow these directions to sync the Wii Balance Board (so that it is recognized by the Wii console):

  1. Insert a Wii Balance Board compatible game disc (such as Wii Fit) in the Wii console.

  2. Use the Wii Remote to select the Disc Channel from the Wii Menu, then select "

    Start" to begin the game.

  3. Open the SD Card slot cover on the front of the Wii console.

  6. The blue LED light located on the power button of the Wii Balance Board will flash, and if successful the LED will become solid and remain lit. This indicates a successfully synchronised Wii Balance Board.

Still cannot connect or synchronise your Wii Balance Board?

  1. Check the type of batteries that are being used in the Wii Balance Board – Carbon Zinc, lithium ion, nickel cadmium batteries and unlicensed recharging devices are not recommended for use. Nintendo recommends the use of good quality alkaline batteries in the Wii Balance Board.

  2. Radio frequency interference can interfere with the operation of the Wii Balance Board. If there are other wireless devices in the area, they can interfere with the signal and the Wii console will not be able to connect to the device. Check for and move or turn off wireless devices such as cordless phones, wireless computer keyboards, mice or similar devices.

  3. Move the Wii console temporarily to another room and repeat the Synchronisation procedure outlined above. Other radio frequency interference could be interfering with the Wii Balance Board in the current room it is set up; taking it to another location temporarily could rectify the problem. If your Wii Balance Board synchronises in this new location the console can be returned to the previous room once completed.
