When I insert a game card, the software icon doesn't appear on the HOME Menu

Is the game card inserted properly?

Try removing and reinserting the game card. 

Are the terminals on the game card dirty?

If they are dirty, clean the terminals with a soft, dry cloth. Wipe them gently so as not to scratch the terminals.
