What is Button Mapping?

This is a setting that allows you to remap or reconfigure the button inputs for supported controllers on Nintendo Switch systems.

You can also disable the inputs for certain buttons or change the control stick orientation while using the Joy-Con controller in solo horizontal grip.

Important

Button remapping is compatible only on Joy-Con (L), Joy-Con (R), and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. The buttons on Nintendo Switch Lite can also be remapped. Apart from the POWER Button, Volume, the HOME, and SYNC Button, you can configure the mapping on any other button. Mapping for the A, B, X, Y buttons applies only when using the Joy-Con controller as a dual-controller grip (vertically).

Note: Your custom button configurations are saved on the Nintendo Switch system, not on the controller. The custom configuration for your controller will not carry over if you pair the controller on another system.
