Voice not Picked Up By the Wii U GamePad Microphone
What to do:
Ensure that the software you are using supports the microphone feature.
Not all software supports the microphone feature; check the software's support documentation for more information.
Check the software for any settings that may be affecting the use of the microphone.
Check the software's support documentation for instructions.
Check that the microphone on the Wii U GamePad is not being blocked by a sticker, your finger, or other debris.
The microphone is labelled "mic" on the Wii U GamePad and is located to the left of the HOME Button.
See if the microphone will pick up the voice of a friend or family member.
Some voices may be difficult for the system to recognize. Try having a different person speak the same word or phrase to verify if this is the problem.
Perform the microphone test from the Wii U GamePad's settings.
What to do:
From the Wii U Menu, tap "System Settings."
Using the Left Stick scroll to the "Wii U GamePad" icon and press the A Button.
3. Select "Microphone Test."
4. When the microphone meter appears on the screen, speak into the microphone on the Wii U GamePad. The meter will fill from yellow to orange to indicate the volume it is picking up.
5. When you are finished, press the B Button.
If the test worked, but the specific software title will not work, check with the software's publisher for more information. If the software is published by Nintendo, please scroll down to "Situation Not Resolved."
If your problem is still not resolved, please contact Nintendo Consumer Support.
