Unable to Pair Controller to Nintendo Switch 2 Console While Using Bluetooth Audio
Follow these steps when you have a Bluetooth audio device connected and you cannot pair an additional wireless controller to your Nintendo Switch 2 console.
Important: No more than two wireless controllers can be paired to a Nintendo Switch 2 system while a Bluetooth audio device is connected.
What to do
Ensure your console has the latest system update.
How to check for the latest system update
Select System Settings on the HOME Menu.
Scroll down to the bottom of the System Settings menu and select System.
Select System Update to start the system update process.
The system will check to see if an update is available.
From the HOME Menu, select Controllers, then Change Grip / Order.
Press and hold down the SYNC Button on the controller(s) you want to pair for at least one second.
Press the L and R Buttons or SL and SR Buttons at the same time on the controller(s) you want to use.
While using a Bluetooth audio device, up to two controllers can be paired.
The right and left Joy-Con 2 each connect as individual controllers to a console, so if you connect both of them wirelessly then it counts as two controllers.
Situation not resolved
If you are still unable to pair one or two controllers, follow our troubleshooting steps on the type of controller you are trying to use.
