No Sound From Headphones Connected to Nintendo Switch 2

This article can help you when there is no sound while using headphones on a Nintendo Switch 2 console in handheld mode or tabletop mode.

Complete these steps

  1. Confirm that your console has the latest system update.

    • How to check for the latest system update

      1. Select System Settings on the HOME Menu.

      2. Scroll down to the bottom of the System Settings menu and select System.

      3. Select System Update to start the system update process.

      4. The system will check to see if an update is available.

  2. With the headphones connected on the console, use the + and - volume buttons to adjust the volume.

    • If there is sound coming through the headphones, but it seems relatively low, it is possible that the Lower the Maximum Headphone Volume is set to ON. Try turning this setting off.

Situation not resolved

  1. Remove the console from the dock, if docked.

  2. Unplug the headphones. Then use the + and - Volume Buttons to adjust the volume.

  3. Plug the headphones back into the console and ensure that they are fully inserted into the headset jack.

    • There is still no sound coming through the headphones

      • Test a different pair of headphones with the console.

      • If a different pair of headphones works, then the original pair is likely faulty.

    • If the issue persists, try testing the headphones on another device.

      • If the headphones don't work on another device, then the pair is likely faulty.

    • There's no sound from multiple connected headphones

      • If there is still no sound even while using different sets of headphones, or if the headphones work on another device, but not on the console, then the Nintendo Switch 2 console will need to be returned for assessment. Please contact us for further assistance.
