Nintendo Switch 2 System Settings Overview

Note: Make sure your system is updated to the latest system version in order to access all available system settings.

Within System Settings, you can configure important features on the system, adjust user settings, set up an Internet connection, and more.

The following settings are available on Nintendo Switch 2:
  • Support/Health & Safety

    • Review the system's Safety Precautions.

    • Review the system's Error History.

  • Flight Mode

    Turn on Flight Mode to disable all wireless communications, including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. With Flight Mode enabled, you can then individually turn on the following types of wireless communication:

    • Bluetooth (enables the use of wireless controllers and Bluetooth audio)

    • Wi-Fi (enables internet connection and local wireless play)

    • NFC (enables the use of amiibo)

    Important: Flight mode cannot be activated while the console is in TV mode.

  • Screen Brightness

    These options cannot be configured while the console is in TV mode.

  • Bluetooth Audio

    Pair, connect, or manage Bluetooth audio devices.

  • Internet

  • Parental Controls

    Watch a video about Parental Controls or adjust Parental Control settings. Parental Controls can be used to restrict features of the system and can be configured from the system or from your smart device.

  • Accessibility

    Manage various accessibility options, such as button mapping and text-to-speech.

  • Data Management

    • Review your current System Memory and microSD Express Card storage usage.

    • Move downloaded software data between the system and microSD Express card.

    • Quick Delete software.

    • Manage downloaded software, including deleting software and checking for corrupt data.

    • Manage Save Data Cloud settings and backups. Requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership.

    • Transfer your save data to another Nintendo Switch 2 console.

    • Manage your screenshots and videos.

  • Users

  • Controllers & Accessories

    Configure various controller settings, including the following:

    • Change the grip/order of controllers.

    • Enable or disable controller vibration.

    • Update controllers.

    • Turn Joy-Con 2 Mouse Controls on or off.

    • Adjust Mouse Sensitivity.

    • Update Nintendo Switch 2 Camera.

    • Test a connected USB Camera.

    • Set the language for a USB keyboard.

    • Calibrate control sticks and motion controls.

    • Test input devices to check for problems with controllers or the touch screen.

    • Enable wired communication for a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.

    • Swap A and B Button mapping.

    • Disconnect controllers to remove all saved controller pairings.

  • Audio

    • Set the audio output source.

    • Change the TV Sound between Stereo and Linear PCM 5.1 Surround.

    • Turn System Virtual Surround and Headphone Virtual Surround on or off.

    • Manage whether to mute the system audio when headphones are disconnected.

    • Lower the maximum headphone volume.

    • Play test audio to check your audio settings.

    • Adjust Audio Input, including microphone noise suppression, microphone input volume, and testing the microphone.

  • Display

    Configure display settings, including the following:

    • Toggle HDR Output on or off.

    • Adjust TV Resolution settings. Choose between Automatic, 720p (HD), 1080p (Full HD), 1440p (WQHD), and 2160p (4K).

    • Review current dock output information (resolution, refresh rate, etc.)

    • Choose between Full and Limited RGB Range.

    • Adjust the screen size.

    • Toggle Screen Burn-in Reduction on or off.

    • Choose whether or not to match the TV Power State.

    • Toggle 120 Hz Output on or off.

    • Toggle Auto Low-Latency Mode (ALLM) on or off.

    • Adjust HDR Output settings. Choose between enabling HDR output for all software or compatible software only.

    • Adjust how the image looks when using HDR.

  • Mii

    Create or edit a Mii character that can be used in compatible software.

  • amiibo

    • Register amiibo to use with compatible software.

    • Delete Game Data tied to an amiibo.

    • Reset an amiibo to remove all data associated with it.

  • Themes

    Change the current Theme, which affects the appearance of the console's menus.

  • Notifications

    Change various notification settings, including notification for Completed Downloads, Friend Notifications, Platinum Point Notifications, and Alarm Notifications.

  • Sleep Mode

    • Configure Auto-Sleep timing when playing on the console screen and when connected to a TV.

    • Adjust Auto-Sleep behavior when playing media content.

    • Adjust the volume of the wake-up sound in TV mode.

    • Manage whether a wired Internet connection is maintained while the system is in sleep mode.

    • Manage whether the system automatically wakes from sleep mode when removed from the dock or AC Adapter.

  • System

    • Perform a System Update.

    • Update the dock.

    • Change the console nickname.

    • Enable or disable a screen lock so that the same button needs to be pressed three times to exit sleep mode.

    • Enable or disable a system lock so that a PIN needs to be entered to unlock the system when waking the system from sleep mode.

    • Change the system language.

    • Change the system region.

    • Set the current date and time.

    • Manage whether to display the current battery percentage on the HOME Menu.

    • Choose whether or not to stop charging at around 90% to help reduce loss of battery capacity over time.

    • Review various information about the system, including serial information, the End-User License Agreement, etc.

    • Enable software to automatically update when available.

    • Choose whether to share error information with third-party developers whose software has crashed for analysis and improvement purposes.

    • Select various data clearing options, including Clear Cache, Clear Keyboard History, Clear microSD Card Data, and Restore Factory Settings.
