Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo Won’t Connect to the Internet

Steps for when Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo fails to connect to the internet or can’t find your wireless network.

Additional information

Alarmo does not work on networks that require you to authenticate the internet connection, such as through a login page, to access it.

Before you start

You will need:

  • Your Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo.

  • Your wireless network ID and password.

Possible solutions

  • Press the Back Button then press the Confirm Button to search for your wireless network again.

  • Power cycle your home network then search for your wireless network again.

  • Move the wireless router and Alarmo closer to each other. Alarmo can be unplugged and re-plugged in without losing settings.

    • If this resolves your issue, it may be that Alarmo is unable to connect because it’s too far from the router.

Internet connection is not needed to access most functions of the device, so you can bring Alarmo closer to the router when you need to perform functions that require access to the internet, such as checking for system updates or new alarm scenes.

  • Check your network password and confirm you’re entering it in accurately.

  • Check that you’re on the most current system update.

    • Alarmo not on most current system update but can’t connect to download it

      1. Attempt to connect Alarmo to a hotspot connection with your smart device and mobile broadband network to connect.

        • Please note that hotspot data is included in some mobile broadband networks, but not all. If you’re not sure if hotspot data is included in your plan, please reach out to your mobile broadband network provider.

        • If you need help setting up a hotspot connection on your smart device, please reach out to the smart device manufacturer or your mobile broadband network provider for assistance.

      2. Once Alarmo is connected to the hot spot, perform the system update.

      3. Try connecting to your home network again after the update completes.

  • Confirm that your router is using a 2.4Ghz frequency and a WPA, WPA2, or WPA3 encryption type.

    • How to check frequency and encryption type

You can review this information within your router's settings. If you need assistance finding this information, or need help changing it, please contact your Internet Service Provider.

  • Turn off fast roaming if your network has this feature enabled.

    • How to check if your network uses fast roaming

You can review this information within your router's settings. If you need assistance finding this information, or need help changing it, please contact your Internet Service Provider.

Situation not resolved

If you are still unable to connect, this may indicate an issue related to the network environment or router being used. If you would like to continue troubleshooting potential issues related to the router, contact the router's manufacturer for assistance with performing the following steps:

  • Updating the router's firmware.

  • Resetting the router back to its factory default settings.
