Microphone Doesn't Work During GameChat
Follow these steps if the microphone on your Nintendo Switch 2 console is not picking up your voice, if you come across too quietly or if other players are unable to hear you during GameChat.
Note:
Microphone input via Bluetooth is not supported on Nintendo Switch 2. If you are using a Bluetooth headset, you will be able to hear other players but not use the headset's microphone.
What to do
Check whether your user at the bottom of the GameChat screen has a green border when you speak.
If a green border appears when speaking, this means that the microphone is picking up your voice properly, so it should not be an issue with the microphone itself.
Have other users in the GameChat session check to make sure that they have not lowered your user volume on their side. They can also increase your volume from the default.
To communicate with other users without using the microphone, you can send messages to the chat using text to speech.
You can also continue following the steps below to increase the microphone input volume.
Make sure there is nothing blocking or obstructing the microphone.
If you are using a separate microphone or headset connected via the USB-C connector on the console or a USB port on the dock, try disconnecting the device, then connecting it to a different port.
If you are using a separate microphone or headset connected via the audio jack on either the console or a Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, try disconnecting the device, then reconnecting it.
If you are playing in TV mode, try sitting closer to the console to see if the microphone picks up sound better.
Check the audio input options in System Settings:
Select System Settings from the HOME Menu.
Select Audio, then scroll down to the "Audio Input" section.
Make sure the correct microphone is selected as the input microphone.
Disable microphone noise suppression so more sound will be picked up by the microphone and sent to other players. This can be re-enabled after troubleshooting.
If needed, increase the microphone input volume.
Select Test Microphone to test the audio input you have selected.
Restart the Nintendo Switch 2 console.
