Message Displays for HDR Output on Nintendo Switch 2

Help for when the following messages display when "TV HDR Output" is set to Always ON or Only for Supported Software.

  • The connected TV either doesn't support HDR or HDR support is turned off. Check the TV's settings.

  • HDR output may need to be adjusted for each TV. Once connected to a TV that supports HDR output, select the Adjust HDR option.

This issue usually occurs when:

  • The TV does not support HDR.

  • HDR is turned off in the TV settings.

  • HDR is turned off in the settings for the HDMI port on the TV that the Nintendo Switch 2 dock is connected to.

  • You are trying to use HDR when not in TV mode.

Possible solutions

  • Place your Nintendo Switch 2 console into the dock before changing the HDR Output settings.

  • Check the TV's setting and the HDMI port being used to confirm that they support HDR.
