Joy-Con 2 Repeatedly Connects/Disconnects From the Console

Use this article when the wireless communication between a Joy-Con 2 controller and a Nintendo Switch 2 console is repeatedly interrupted, causing the controller to become unpaired or to pair and unpair repeatedly.

Before you start

You will need:

  • Your Nintendo Switch 2 console

  • Your Joy-Con 2 controllers

Remove your console from the dock while troubleshooting.

What to do

  • Attach the Joy-Con 2 controllers to the console.

  • Check that your console has the latest system update. If so, restart it.

  • Check whether the Joy-Con 2 controllers have the most recent firmware update.

  • Detach the Joy-Con 2 controllers, then start a game or navigate through the menus to see if the controller or controllers stay connected. If they still disconnect, continue with the next steps.

  • Press the SYNC Button on each affected Joy-Con 2 controller once to reset it, then press any button, such as the A Button, to pair it again.

  • Test the Joy-Con 2 while the console is in flight mode.

    • Activate flight mode from the System Settings menu.

    • With flight mode enabled, enable Bluetooth as well.

    • Press a button on each Joy-Con 2 controller to reconnect them.

    • After the Joy-Con 2 controllers are connected to the console wirelessly, disable flight mode and continue to use the console as normal.

  • Check for wireless interference. Make sure the console is not placed behind a TV, under a metal object or within four feet of other wireless devices (wireless speakers, cordless phones, etc.).

  • Test the console with another Joy-Con 2 controller (either left or right) if possible.

Situation not resolved
