Is Nintendo Labo a video game?

Nintendo Labo is not a video game in the traditional sense. Nintendo Labo combines physical and digital experiences to enable a whole new way to make, play and discover.

The features of the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers bring the Nintendo Labo experience to life. These include motion controls, HD Rumble and IR Motion Camera, plus the touch-screen technology of the console itself.

The software for many Toy-Con creations includes features that extend replay value during the Play portion of the experience, such as the ability to record original compositions with Toy-Con Piano, create original tracks for Toy-Con Motorbike, or compete against a friend with two Toy-Con RC Cars or two Toy-Con Robots (additional Toy-Con Robot Kit and additional Joy-Con controllers required for multiplayer mode; each sold separately).

Also, in the Toy-Con Garage mode (included in the software), users can apply what they learn during the make, play and discover parts of the experience by combining various simple inputs and outputs to invent new ways to play.
