How to Unlink a Nintendo Account From a Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch Console

Instructions on unlinking a Nintendo Account from a console.

What to Do:

• To unlink a single Nintendo Account from a console, delete the associated user on your Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console.

  • Once a Nintendo Account is linked to a user, this link cannot be undone. The associated user must also be deleted to unlink a Nintendo Account from the console. Deleting the user does not delete the Nintendo Account or any associated purchases. The Nintendo Account will still be available and can be re-linked to another user in the future.

  • Deleting a user from a Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch console will also delete any save data that is associated with that account and saved to the console.

  • Data deleted from a console cannot be restored unless it is first backed up using the Save Data Cloud feature.

  • If you wish to retain save data that is not supported using the Save Data Cloud feature, do not delete the associated user.

• To unlink all Nintendo Accounts from a console, restore your Nintendo Switch 2 console to factory settings or restore your Nintendo Switch console to factory settings.

Additional information

A Nintendo Account can be linked to more than one Nintendo Switch 2 and/or Nintendo Switch console at a time. You do not need to unlink your Nintendo Account from a console prior to linking it to a different console.
