How to Add or Change Saved Credit Card Information on a Nintendo Account

Instructions on saving new credit card information or changing existing credit card information for a Nintendo Account.

Additional Information:

  • Users under the age of 18 are not able to save credit card information.

  • One credit card can be stored per Nintendo Account.

  • Credit card information stored on your Nintendo Account does not carry over to a linked Nintendo Network ID (or vice versa).

  • You can add or change saved credit card information on Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch or through the "Shop Menu" settings on the Nintendo Account website. Any changes to saved credit card information will be applied to both Nintendo eShop and website settings.

  • You can delete your stored credit card information at any time after it has been saved.

  • We may receive updated information from your issuing bank or applicable payment service provider about the credit card that you stored in your Nintendo Account. This means we may update the saved credit card's number and expiration date if it is replaced, or it expired. This helps ensure that your subscriptions automatically renew, and your purchases complete successfully, even if your credit card information changes.

Complete These Steps:

Do you want to add/change saved credit card information through Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch or through the website?

  1. Select Nintendo eShop on the HOME Menu to launch Nintendo eShop.

  2. Select the user icon for the user linked to the Nintendo Account you wish to save or change credit card information for.

    • The same credit card information can be stored for multiple Nintendo Accounts.

  3. Select your user icon in the upper-right corner to access your Account Information.

  4. Under "Credit Card Information", select "Set" to save a credit card or select "Change" if a credit card has already been saved.

    • When you change your saved credit card information, it will also change the credit card used for any active automatic renewal (for example, for Nintendo Switch Online membership). Select "Change" again if prompted to proceed.

  5. Select "Save" to save the new credit card information.

  1. Visit the Shop Menu website and sign in to your Nintendo Account.

  2. Under "Credit Card", select "Save" to save a credit card or select "Change" if a credit card has already been saved.

    • When you change your saved credit card information, it will also change the credit card used for any active automatic renewal (for example, for Nintendo Switch Online membership). Select "Change" again if prompted to proceed.

  3. Select "Save" to save the new credit card information.
