What is the C Button on the Joy-Con 2 (R) for?

The C Button is used to open the GameChat menu, where you can start a GameChat sessionjoin a session you've been invited to or adjust GameChat settings. While in a GameChat session, the C Button opens a menu where you can toggle your microphone, camera and screen share usage, as well as adjust general GameChat settings and options for other individual users in the session.

What can I do with the GameChat feature?

You can GameChat to play and chat together with your friends online! GameChat supports voice chat using the console's built-in microphone, as well as video chat with compatible USB cameras (sold separately). You can share your screen with others within the session, and, for supported software, use the GameShare feature to allow other users to play a game with you even if they don’t own it.

Can I still play the Nintendo Switch games I own on Nintendo Switch 2?

In addition to Nintendo Switch 2 games, a Nintendo Switch 2 console can also be used to play Nintendo Switch games. However, certain Nintendo Switch games may not be compatible or fully compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2 console.

To use a Joy-Con 2 controller as a mouse...

Attach a Joy-Con 2 strap to the controller, then place the Joy-Con 2 controller on a flat surface with the mouse sensor facing the surface.

Please note that a Nintendo Switch 2 console update is required to use a Joy-Con 2 controller as a mouse. Software must be compatible in order for you to use one or both controllers as a mouse while playing.

Can I use my smart device to look at screenshots and videos I captured while playing?

You can upload screenshots and videos of your gameplay from the album on a Nintendo Switch 2 console to the Nintendo Switch App for smart devices. From the app, you can also download or share screenshots and videos you have uploaded.

Can I still use Nintendo Switch controllers with a Nintendo Switch 2 console?

Yes. Joy-Con controllers can be connected wirelessly for use with a Nintendo Switch 2 console. The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller can be connected wirelessly and can be charged by connecting it to the Nintendo Switch 2 dock via a USB cable.

Family safety first! What you can do with Parental Controls settings...

Parental Controls allow you to manage your child’s experience on Nintendo Switch 2. Notable options include play time limits, software age rating restrictions, play activity summaries and approval requests for various GameChat features. Some restrictions are available through the Parental Controls settings on the console itself, but the most robust features are made available by linking the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls smart device app to your Nintendo Switch 2 console.

Can I still use the microSD cards I used on Nintendo Switch?

Standard microSD and microSDXC cards are not compatible with Nintendo Switch 2, which uses newer microSD Express cards. Please note that a system update must also be installed before you can use microSD Express cards.
