Everybody 1-2-Switch! FAQ and Troubleshooting

What smart devices are supported by Everybody 1-2-Switch! for Smart Device Mode?

For iOS:
  • iPhones with iOS11 or higher

  • Recommended browser: Safari 11.0 or higher

For Android:
  • Devices with Android 7.0 or higher

  • Recommended browser: Google Chrome 48.0 or higher

Some games use both the smart device’s accelerometer and gyroscope, so these games cannot be played on devices that don’t have both of these features.

Notes:

  • We do not guarantee all smart devices are compatible even if they meet the requirements above.

    • The game can also be played on tablet-style smart devices, but we do not guarantee that this will work properly.

  • There may be cases where Smart Device Mode does not work properly depending on the performance or specifications of the smart device being used, or due to the use of other applications on the smart device.

  • When a new version of an OS or browser is released, Smart Device Mode may not support it right away.

When I try to play in Smart Device Mode, I receive the message “Your camera can’t be used” and can’t play the game.

  1. Refreshing the page in your browser or restarting your browser may resolve the issue.

  2. If the issue persists, please check your smart device and browser settings to ensure the browser has permission to use the camera.

When I try to play in Smart Device Mode, I receive the message “Unable to acquire correct sensor value” and can’t play the game.

  1. This message likely means your smart device does not have both an accelerometer and a gyroscope.

  2. If your smart device has both and you still receive this message, refreshing the page in your browser or restarting your browser may resolve the issue.

  3. If the issue persists, please check your smart device and browser settings.

When I try to play in Smart Device Mode, I receive the message “The network connection has been lost” and can’t play the game.

The connection between the smart device and the console may be unstable. Try changing between cellular data (mobile broadband) and Wi-Fi on your smart device, or check your network environment, then try scanning the QR Code again.

I was playing in Smart Device Mode with a large group of people, and the connection became unstable.

Wireless communication could become unstable if a large number of smart devices are all connected to one wireless access point.

Please try splitting the group between multiple wireless access points, or change some smart devices to cellular data (mobile broadband), then try playing again.

Why can’t I join the game in Smart Device Mode even after scanning the QR Code on the game screen?

The connection between the smart device and the console may be unstable. Try changing between cellular data (mobile broadband) and Wi-Fi on your smart device, or check your network environment, then try scanning the QR Code again.

Why do I keep having to redo my photo and re-enter my name when playing in Smart Device Mode?

We recommend playing using a browser (such as Safari or Google Chrome). Depending on how the QR Code is scanned, the game may open in the application that scanned the QR Code, instead of opening in a browser. If this happens, the information you enter may not be saved.

  • For iOS, we recommend using the default camera app to scan QR Codes, rather than the Code Scanner within the Control Center.

  • For Android, we recommend using the default camera app to scan QR Codes, rather than Google Lens.

If you can’t scan QR Codes with your smart device’s default camera app, please read “I don’t have an app that reads QR Codes, how can I play in Smart Device Mode?”

I don’t have an app that reads QR Codes, how can I play in Smart Device Mode?

Please use our tool that allows you to read the QR Code through your smart device browser:

Further instructions can be found in-game, after creating a game room or on the pause menu. Please note that the tool is only intended for use with smart devices.

How can I leave a room in Smart Device Mode, or remove other players from the room?

To leave a room:
  • You can leave a room you’re participating in by pressing the “X” icon in the upper right corner of your smart device’s screen.

  • Please note that you cannot exit while you’re in the middle of playing a game.

To remove another player from the room:
  • Press the + Button or the – (Minus) Button to open the pause menu, then select Player Restrictions, followed by Remove Player. Pick a player to remove, and then confirm the selection.

  • You can also select Lock Room to restrict new players from joining.

Can I play in Smart Device Mode while using my browser’s Incognito or Private Browsing mode?

It’s possible to play while using Incognito Mode (Google Chrome) or Private Browsing (Safari). Please note that if you close the browser tab or close the browser app itself, you will lose your photo and name. You will need to enter these again the next time you play.

Note: Incognito Mode (Google Chrome) and Private Browsing (Safari) are browser features that prevent the browser from keeping track of what you have viewed or information that you entered.
