Error Codes: 2002-2000 to 2002-2499
The information in this article can help you when:
While using a microSD card on Nintendo Switch, an error message is displayed, "Unable to access microSD card."
You receive an error code within the range 2002-2000 to 2002-2499.
Additional Information
If a microSD card is inserted or removed while the console is powered on or while in sleep mode, you will be prompted to restart the console.
To ensure proper use, always shut off the console before removing or inserting a microSD card.
What to Do:
Is the microSD card inserted into the console?
Restart the console.
Press and hold the POWER Button for at least three seconds. Select Power Options, then choose restart.
Ensure your console has the latest system update.
Remove the microSD card.
Power off the console before removing the microSD card.
Check for any dirt or debris on the microSD card terminals.
If dirty, gently wipe the terminals with a soft, dry cloth, such as a glasses cleaning cloth, taking care to not damage them.
Re-insert the microSD card.
Format the microSD card.
Important
Once formatted, the information on the microSD card cannot be recovered. If screenshots or videos are stored on the microSD card, be sure to first back up the information on to the console’s System Memory or a computer.
If downloadable software was saved to the microSD card, it can be redownloaded using the same Nintendo Account where it was purchased.
Save data is stored on the console’s System Memory, so it will not be lost in this process.
Redownload content that was saved to the microSD card prior to formatting to see if the error persists.
Check for corrupt data.
If the error persists with multiple supported microSD cards or when downloading directly to the system memory, the Nintendo Switch console may need to be repaired.

If a microSD card is not inserted the console
Restart the console.
Press and hold the POWER Button for at least three seconds. Select Power Options, then choose restart.
Ensure your console has the latest system update.
Check for corrupt data.
If the software experiencing the error was downloaded, delete and redownload the software.
If the error persists with multiple supported microSD cards or when downloading directly to the system memory, the Nintendo Switch console may need to be repaired.
