Description:

• An error code is received when trying to start a game on Nintendo Switch.

• Error code: 2016-0641.

Additional Information:

If a microSD card is inserted on the console, the save location will default to the microSD card when downloading or redownloading software.

What to Do:

1. Ensure your console has the latest system update. 

   • If the console is already up to date, restart it by holding down the POWER Button for three seconds, then selecting "Power Options" > "Restart".

2. If the error is displayed while playing a game, try the following:

   • Check for corrupt data.

   • Delete the problematic software and redownload it.

Is a microSD card being used with the console?

• Yes:

  1. If the error persists while a microSD card is being used, try the following:

     • Reseat the microSD card by removing and reinserting the microSD card.

     • Format the microSD card.

     • Use a different microSD card.

     • Remove the microSD card and download the software directly to the system memory.

Situation Not Resolved:

If the error persists with multiple supported microSD cards or while downloading directly to the system memory, the Nintendo Switch console may need to be inspected.

• For testing purposes, be sure to include one or more of the problematic microSD cards that were being used with the console. 

If the error persists and a microSD card is not being used, then the Nintendo Switch console will need to be repaired.
