Blank Screen or No Image Displayed on the TV on Nintendo Switch 2
Steps for when your Nintendo Switch 2 console won't wake from sleep mode while docked or won't display on the television while docked.
Before you start
You will need:
Your Nintendo Switch 2 console
A Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter (model NGN-01(AU)) or another compatible AC adapter
A Nintendo Switch AC adapter (model HAC-002) cannot be used in TV mode with a Nintendo Switch 2 console.
A Nintendo Switch 2 dock
An HDMI cable
Access to a wall socket
What to do
Check that the console is functioning properly in handheld mode.
Power off the TV.
Disconnect all cables from the Nintendo Switch 2 dock.
Unplug the AC adapter from both the socket and the dock/console.
Leave unplugged for 30 seconds.
Connect the AC adapter to the console again, then directly to a wall socket.
Leave the Nintendo Switch 2 console undocked for now.
If an image is not initially displayed, press the POWER Button on the console.
With the console still undocked, ensure that it has the latest system update installed.
If no image displayed in handheld mode, there might be an issue with the console. Continue troubleshooting for power issues in handheld mode.
Check your accessories.
Check that you're using the Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter or another compatible AC adapter and dock.
If you're not using a Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter
If you want to use an alternative charging solution, please consult the Nintendo Switch 2 console's power requirements, which can be found on the packaging and in the Important Information booklet, and ensure that you select a compatible AC adapter approved for use in your country.
Check the accessories for damage (AC adapter, HDMI cable, dock).
Damage can include a frayed or split cord, loose connectors or USB ports, kinks, etc.
If any damage to the AC adapter, HDMI cable or dock is found, it will need to be replaced.
Check your TV setup.
Connect the AC adapter to the dock and directly to a wall socket. Avoid using a power strip when troubleshooting.
Connect the HDMI cable to the dock and directly to an HDMI port on the TV.
Important: If a different device is being used, such as a sound bar, a home theatre system or a video adapter, remove it temporarily.
Power on the TV.
Place the console in the dock.
Make sure that the console screen is facing towards the front panel on the dock.
Remove any protective cases before docking the console.
If no image is displayed on TV screen, try the following:
Verify that you are using the correct input on the TV.
Lower or adjust the TV resolution settings on the console.
Try a different HDMI port on the TV.
Try a different HDMI cable.
Try a different TV.
Try a different dock.
Situation not resolved
If the console works using a different dock, only the original dock will need to be returned for assessment.
If the issue is not resolved using the troubleshooting steps above, the Nintendo Switch 2 console and the dock will need to come in for assessment.
