Miitopia is a crazy, rambunctious journey, and Mii characters are an inseparable part of it! These fun characters can look like your friends, your family members, or even your favourite celebrity. Find out how to create and customise them on your Nintendo Switch, how they can join your Miitopia adventure, and discover some fun Mii facts that you may not have known!
Create multiple Mii characters on your Nintendo Switch
What’s better than one Mii? More Mii! To create a whole band of characters, head to the System Settings menu of your Nintendo Switch and scroll down to the "Mii" section. Select "Create/Edit a Mii" and go wild! Kick off your creation from a range of templates or start from scratch. Choose what hair colour your Mii will sport, how thick their eyebrows are, whether they wear glasses, and more. The possibilities are endless!
A hundred Mii characters!
Did you know, you can have up to 100 Mii on your Nintendo Switch? The more, the Mii-rier! Create lookalikes of relatives, neighbours, or even a character from your favourite book. You can then cast them in a variety of roles in Miitopia: from the party joining you on your quest, to the King, the Princess, and even the big baddie himself – the Dark Lord.
Borrow Mii from family and friends nearby…
Did your sister create a perfect Mii likeness of you that you’d love to have on your own console? Head to the "Mii" section in the Nintendo Switch System settings menu and select "Send/Receive", then "Search for Users to Connect With". You can automatically discover other nearby Nintendo Switch consoles with the same function turned on and then trade to your heart’s content!
…And not so nearby!
What about borrowing from faraway friends? With Miitopia, that's possible too. You can get a whole rambunctious gang of characters from online friends or by using an access key. Just open the game, select "Mii" from the start screen, then press the X Button to open the Menu. Choose “Add Mii characters”, then “Receive” and finally select “Friend” or “Access key”. All that’s left to do is choose which adventurers will join your quest!
Transfer Mii with an amiibo
Got some Mii characters on your Wii U or 3DS that you’d love to have on your Nintendo Switch as well? You can transfer them with the help of an amiibo! Use an amiibo assigned to your Wii U or Nintendo 3DS family system* and take your Mii characters into your next game!
Put personalities to faces!
Mii characters don’t just have to look like your favourite people – they can behave like them too! In Miitopia, you’re able to assign personalities to your colourful cast of characters. Choose from seven personality types – Kind, Energetic, Laid-back, Cool, Stubborn, Airheaded and Cautious – and watch the results unfold! Your Kind friends will always try to lend a helping hand, while your Energetic brother may charge enemies head on, dealing extra damage.
Make your Mii glamorous
Want to create a Mii character that looks like a fabulous fashionista or one that resembles a colourful clown? With Miitopia’s new customisation options, you can let your creativity run wild! Choose from 100 colours to create fabulous two-tone wigs, and add a personal touch with eyeshadow, lipstick, and lashes. Your Mii characters will be ready to face off against any enemy in style!
Where else can you find Mii?
Mii characters have been around for 15 years! They made their first appearance on Wii in 2006, and they were quite the sporty bunch as the stars of Wii Sports. You could enjoy golf, tennis, bowling, boxing and baseball as a Mii, and yet, that’s far from their only adventure!
Since then, they’ve made appearances in many games on Wii, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U and Nintendo Switch – here are some highlights from their 15-year journey so far:
Mii characters have starred in more than 100 games!
A life simulation full of Mii characters? Yes, up to one hundred Mii could share apartments in Tomodachi Life!
You could meet other people’s Mii characters and even play games with them just by passing them on the street thanks to StreetPass Mii Plaza on Nintendo 3DS.
Mii characters could dress up as Mario, Luigi, Zelda, Link and more familiar faces, to take on various challenges in Nintendo Land on Wii U.
A whole social network of Mii existed in Miiverse – with players able to exchange messages, screenshots and drawings!
Defeat Bowser as a Mii! That’s right, you can face off against Mario’s nemesis as your Mii in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe’s Coin Battle.
