Welcome to Rogueport! Mario visits this notorious town of ruffians to help Princess Peach on a treasure hunt. But Peach is nowhere to be seen! After learning about the legend of the Crystal Stars, Mario sets out to find them and hopefully track down the princess too…

Of course, Mario isn’t the only one hoping to find the Crystal Stars – and it’s not just Bowser who’s looking to cause trouble this time! Can our hero unearth these ancient artifacts, open the Thousand-Year Door buried deep beneath the town and maybe even save the world?

To find the Crystal Stars, you’ll have to venture beyond the walls of Rogueport and explore the world. Along the way, all kind of discoveries are waiting for you: a huge dragon hiding in a creepy castle, a cursed town cloaked in perpetual twilight, daring detective work aboard a moving train and much more!

Throughout the adventure, you’ll see Mario and his new-found friends get up to all kinds of hilarious hijinx. Whether it’s fighting fun in the glamourous Glitz Pit, shipwreck shenanigans on an isolated island or even a madcap mission to the moon, there’s always something comical around the corner!

Spotted any enemies on your travels? Confront them in turn-based combat, on a cardboard stage in front of an excitable audience. The better you do, the more the crowd will cheer you on!

What’s this? A mysterious black chest? Surely there can’t be anything bad inside, can there? Wrong! Opening one afflicts Mario with…a papery curse! But fret not – these curses are actually the key to unlocking special Paper Abilities!

When it comes to getting around and exploring, these abilities can help you overcome obstacles. Turn into a paper plane to fly over gaps or become paper-thin to squeeze through tight spaces. There are even more abilities to discover too!

  • Upgraded visuals
  • A newly-arranged soundtrack
  • Art and Sound Galleries, allowing you to listen to both the new and original versions of the soundtrack and check out character and location sketches.
  • An improved hint system so you can always remember where you should be heading next.
  • The Battle Master is here! This tough Toad is on-hand to give you all kinds of combat tips.
  • A new ‘pipe room’ hidden beneath Rogueport that allows you to quickly return to areas you’ve already completed – handy when going back for a visit!
