Join the Active Play PALA Challenge with Wii Fit Plus!

Nintendo is teaming up with the President's Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition to help people lead healthier and more active lifestyles. The Active Play PALA (Presidential Active Lifestyle Award) Challenge is designed to motivate people of all ages to exercise through a series of fun physical activities. Fulfilling these requirements can earn you a PALA+ award.

Active Play and Wii Fit Plus

The physical activity requirements for PALA+ are: 60 minutes/day for kids, 30 minutes/day for adults, five days a week for six out of eight weeks. Nintendo has designed a special series of routines you can perform in Wii Fit Plus that will earn you PALA+.

**Adults will do one full course to fulfill the 30 minute requirement. Younger participants can do the course twice to satisfy 60 minutes.

30-minute “Mushroom Course” – Beginner

1. Strength – Torso Twists, 2 METs (2 mins)
2. Balance Games – Soccer Heading, 2 METs (2 mins)
3. Aerobics – Basic Step, 3 METs (3 mins)
4. Training Plus – Perfect 10, 2.5 METs (2 mins)
5. Strength – Single Leg Extension, 2.5 METs (2 mins)
6. Balance Games – Table Tilt, 2 METs (2-3 mins)
7. Aerobics – Hula Hoop, 4 METs (2 mins)
8. Training Plus - Birds-Eye Bulls-Eye, 2.5 METs (2-3 mins)
9. Strength – Tricep Extension, 2 METs (1 min)
10. Balance Games - Snowboard Slalom, 2.5 METs (2-3 mins)
11. Aerobics – Basic Step, 3 METs (3 mins)
12. Training Plus – Tilt City, 2 METs (2 mins)
13. Strength – Torso Twists, 2 METs (2 mins)

30 minute “Flower Course” – Intermediate
1. Strength – Single-leg Extension, 3 METs (2 mins)
2. Balance Games – Snowboard Slalom, 2.5 METs (1 mins)
3. Aerobics – Hula Hoop, 4 METs (2 mins)
4. Training Plus – Birds-Eye Bulls-Eye, 2.5 METs (2-3 mins)
5. Strength – Rowing Squat, 3.5 METs (1 min)
6. Balance Games – Soccer Heading, 2 METs (2 mins)
7. Aerobics – Rhythm Boxing, 3.5 METs, (2 mins)
8. Training Plus - Obstacle Course, 3 METs (3-4 mins)
9. Strength – Lunge, 3 METs (2 min)
10. Balance Games – Table Tilt, 2 METs (2-3 mins)
11. Aerobics – Basic Step, 3 METs (3 mins)
12. Training Plus – Rhythm Kung-Fu, 3 METs (3 mins)
13. Strength – Push-Up and Side Plank, 3.5 METs (2 min)

30 minute “Star Course” – Advanced

1. Strength – Single-Arm Stand, 5.5 METs (2 mins)
2. Balance Games – Soccer Heading , 2 METs (2 mins)
3. Aerobics – Hula Hoop, 4 METs (2 mins)
4. Training Plus – Birds-Eye Bulls-Eye, 2.5 METs (2-3 mins)
5. Strength – Single-Leg Reach, 4 METs (2 min)
6. Balance Games – Snowboard Slalom, 2.5 METs (1 min)
7. Aerobics – Advanced Step, 3.5 METs (3 mins)
8. Training Plus – Obstacle Course, 3 METs (3-4 mins)
9. Strength – Push-Up and Side Plank, 3.5 METs (2 mins)
10. Balance Games – Penguin Slide, 2 METs (2 mins)
11. Aerobics – Rhythm Boxing, 4 METs (2 mins)
12. Training Plus – Perfect 10, 2.5 METs (2 mins)
13. Strength – Side Lunge, 3 METs (2 mins)
14. Strength – Balance Bridge, 3.5 METs, (2 mins)
