Which Types of Controllers Can Be Used With VC/WW Games?
Answer:
Virtual Console and WiiWare games available for download on the Wii Shop Channel are published by many different companies. Because each console and game can have their own unique controller needs, it is important to understand what the controller requirements are before downloading a game.
When browsing games on the Wii Shop Channel, the game being browsed will show which controllers are compatible. Please make sure to have at least one of the controllers that are shown when clicking "View Compatible Controllers" on the game's page of the Wii Shop Channel, as a compatible controller type must be used to play Virtual Console and WiiWare games.
The following controller icons can appear in the Wii Shop:
Wii-Remote: When held horizontally, the Wii Remote is a great way to play NES and other compatible games.
Classic Controller (sold separately): The Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro attach to the Wii Remote and can enable play for many different game types.
Nintendo GameCube Controller (sold separately): Inserting a Nintendo GameCube Controller or Wave Bird wireless controller into the available controller slots on the system will enable game play for many types of games.
Note: Only Wii consoles with model number RVL-001 are compatible with Nintendo GameCube controllers. (learn more)
Do I Have to Use the Classic Controller with Virtual Console Games?
Answer:
Some games will be playable with just the Wii Remote, or a Nintendo GameCube controller, while others will require use of the Classic Controller attachment. (Note: Only Wii consoles with model number RVL-001 are compatible with Nintendo GameCube controllers.)
The best place to go for information on which controller is used for a specific game is the Wii Shop Channel catalog itself. Each game clearly shows which controller(s) it uses.

How Do I Clean the Game Disc?
Answer:
Cleaning a Game Disc
Fingerprints, smudges, and other foreign material can interfere with a game disc being properly read by the Wii console. Please use the information on this page to properly clean a dirty Game Disc.
Important Notes (please read first):
ONLY USE straight strokes when wiping the disc (not a circular motion)
ONLY USE a clean, soft, cotton cloth (not paper towels, facial tissue, etc.)
ONLY USE water (not soap or any other cleaning solution)
DO NOT use solvents such as: benzine, window cleaner, paint thinner, anti-static aerosol spray or abrasive cleaners to clean the disc.
DO NOT use machines designed to clean discs or remove scratches. These types of devices have been known to damage the surface of the disc.
What to Do:
Dampen a clean, soft, cotton cloth with water.
Use straight strokes and wipe the disc (non-labeled side) from the inside rim to the outside rim.
Using a dry part of the cloth, repeat step 2 to dry the disc.
After all of the water is gone, let the disc sit for at least two minutes to completely dry before inserting it into the Wii console.
