SD Card Troubleshooting

 

This section covers troubleshooting information for the use of SD Cards. SD Cards are used for data storage on in many digital cameras, cell phones, and PCs. The Wii console accepts SD Cards. MiniSD and microSD Cards can be used with the Wii when they use their respective adapters. The Wii features an SD slot, located just below the Disc drive.

    SD Card won't fit

    The Wii console only accepts SD memory cards, including miniSD and microSD when used with their respective adapters.

    Image thumbnail displays as "?" icon

    Photos and video displayed as a "?" in the preview mode are not compatible with the Wii console and cannot be viewed. The Photo Channel can display or play files in the following formats and sizes:

    • Image Files:
      Format: JPEG, baseline only
      Size: Up to 8192x8192
    • Video Files:
      Format: Quicktime (motion JPEG)(.mov files)
    • Audio Files:
      Format: MP3
    • Please Note the Following:

      • Some files in the above formats may not work with the Photo Channel.
      • The audio components of some video files may not be playable.
      • Using an SD Card with slow transfer speed may result in longer load times or irregular video playback.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


    Thumbnails load slowly

    Using an SD Card with slow transfer speed may result in longer load times. Try using SD Cards with faster transfer speeds.

    The slow loading of thumbnails can occur if you are using an SD Card with a high number of photos.

     

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


    Can't save changes to photos made in the Photo Channel's "Fun" Mode

    Changes you make to your photos or videos in Mood and Doodle modes can only be saved in the Wii Message Board, which saves them to the Wii console's internal memory. You cannot save over photos or videos stored onto an SD Card.
