Game Boy micro - Sticky Button Troubleshooting

What you will need:

  • Faceplate removal tool
  • 1 clean toothbrush (no toothpaste on it)
  • 1 soft cloth

Important Notes:

  • Solvents of any type should never be used on the system.
  • Never pour water directly on the screen
  • Never submerge the unit under water

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Turn off the Game Boy micro system. Remove the AC adapter, and any Game Paks or accessories.
  2. Remove the faceplate
  3. Turn the Game Boy micro screen-side down so that the buttons are facing down. (This prevents loose dirt/particles from getting inside the unit).
  4. Use a dried toothbrush and scrub the area around the buttons, working the bristles around the sides of the buttons. Note: Do not brush on the Game Boy micro LCD as it could cause damage to the LCD.
  5. After cleaning the buttons, use a soft clothe to wipe off dirt/particles from the front housing. Note: Do not touch the Game Boy micro LCD.
  6. Replace the faceplate.
  7. Test your system for proper response.
  8. Repeat the process if necessary.
