When viewing the screen at the proper distance and angle, different images are displayed to each of your eyes. However, that doesn't mean that the images for your left and right eyes are completely isolated from each other.

The Nintendo 3DS has been designed so that there are no issues when it is used under most circumstances. However, scenes that display extremely high-contrast visuals (for example, if a bright object is displayed on a dark background) can make the lack of complete image isolation more noticeable. Under such conditions, there is a possibility that a faint ghosting (doubled image) may be visible.

There are a few steps that can be taken to reduce this effect.

• View the screen straight on from directly in front of you. Hold the screen 10 to 14 inches (25-35 centimeters) from your eyes.
• Adjust the angle of your line of vision by holding the system at different heights. Each person is different, so find the distance and angle that are most comfortable for you.
• If the ghosting is occurring while playing a game or feature that uses the Nintendo 3DS camera (AR Games, Face Raiders, etc.) try reducing the contrast between the background and the 3D images.
  • Do not play against a black or dark background.
  • Make sure your surroundings are well lit.
  • Follow the game play recommendations included in the software manual.
• The Nintendo 3DS system is equipped with a 3D depth slider that lets you select the level of 3D that works best for you.
  • Do not start with the depth slider turned all the way up, as each game or application may have different 3D depths.

Close the system to test Sleep Mode and see if the system functions as intended.

What you need to do in the event you have a Nintendo 3DS accessory that must be replaced will be depend on which company made the accessory. Please read the information below.

Nintendo can only offer repairs for accessories made by Nintendo.

How to tell who made the accessory:

• Check the accessory for any manufacturer information. Nintendo-made products, such as the AC Adapter or Charging Cradle will often have the Nintendo logo and will feature a model number beginning with the letters CTR.
• Check the product packaging or manuals for any manufacturer names and contact information. Tip: if the product packaging states something to the affect: "Made for use with the Nintendo 3DS" it is likely an unlicensed product.

If you have a licensed or unlicensed product made by another company, you will need to contact the manufacturer.

If the product is manufactured by Nintendo, please use the following options:

• Physically damaged: Accessories that are physically-damaged are not covered under Nintendo's warranty (read full warranty text), and you will need to purchase a replacement. Many Nintendo 3DS accessories can be found in Nintendo's Online Store.
• Accessory came with the system: If the accessory came in the same box as the Nintendo 3DS system, it has a one-year manufacturer's warranty (which can be extended 90 days by registering your system). If your accessory is covered under the system warranty, please call our Consumer Service Department at 1-800-255-3700 to discuss available repair options (please have your Nintendo 3DS system's serial number handy). If the warranty has expired, you will need to purchase a replacement accessory. • Accessory was purchased separately: If the accessory was sold separately, it has a 90-day manufacturer's warranty. If your accessory is over 90 days old, you will need to purchase a replacement.
