Mario Kart 7 Is Not Recognizing the Update
Situation:
Mario Kart 7 is not recognizing that an update has been downloaded to the system.
What to do:
Perform a system update to ensure that you have the most up-to-date version. (How To)
The system will need to have a menu version of 4.1.0-8U or higher to use the Mario Kart 7 Update. (How to Verify the Menu Version)
Re-download the Update from the Nintendo eShop. (How To)
The Update data is saved to the SD Card and appears in the "Add-On Content" section of the system's Data Management area. If this data has been erased or if the SD Card has been removed or exchanged, the game's Online modes will not be accessible until the Update is downloaded again.
If the "Online Interaction" setting has been restricted, you will not be able to use the Online modes until the restriction is removed.
Verify that the User Agreements have been accepted. (How To)
Still Not Resolved:
If the software is still unable to recognize the update, there may be an issue with the system or the game that will need to be repaired. Please call 001 (425) 558-7078 so that we can assist you further.
Print the AR Cards. These print outs provide the same functionality as the AR cards and can be used as replacements.

Unable to Read AR Cards
Situation:
The Nintendo 3DS cameras are not recognizing the AR Card
Important Note! You must start AR Games using the Question Mark Card.
What to do:
Check the distance and the angle from the AR Card. The Nintendo 3DS system should be 14 inches away and be held at a 30 degree angle relative to the card.
Make sure the card is centered on the screen.
Make sure the game play area is well-lit.
Make sure a bright light source is not reflecting off the card.
These symptoms are not the result of a broken or defective unit, so a repair or replacement will not stop this from happening.
Continue to experiment with the suggested tips above to see if you can resolve the issue.
